A Glimmer of Hope
Two years after the start of the Great Recession in the United States, some signs of recovery are finally beginning to emerge. The outlook for the highway construction industry is not bad, despite long-term uncertainty and a broken trust fund. The highway construction market, for example, should grow eight percent in 2010, according to the American Road and Transportation Builders Association. Hurdles discussed include market weakness and funding for infrastructure and equipment. A table presents information on deficient bridges found on the national highway system by state.
