The handbook has been prepared as one of a set of three handbooks related to railroad sanitation. The principles, or standards, of sanitation appearing in this handbook are intended to serve as a guide to those persons charged with the responsibility of incorporating provisions for sanitary equipment in the design or construction of railroad passenger cars and the reconstruction of existing cars.
