A Step-By-Step Procedure to Introduce Low-Cost Transport Guidance Systems Using ICT at Bus Terminals
Measures to improve guidance at bus terminals for visiting users are examined based on case surveys and a design case study. A step-by-step procedure to enhance transport guidance signs by adopting information-communication technology (ICT) to cope with user needs at low cost in operation is proposed, targeting a sub-urban bus terminal connected to a large railway station operated by a different bus service operator. The structure of a dynamic bus information signboard which locally detects approaching buses with radio frequency identifications (RFIDs) and displays information on arriving buses with light-emitting diodes (LEDs) is described.
