Intelligent road studs - pilot - final report
Faber Maunsell was commissioned by the Highways Agency to provide an evaluation of intelligent road studs (IRS) incorporating fog/visibility detection. This report forms the final deliverable from the study and concludes the work undertaken to consider the feasibility of the technology, to look for a suitable pilot site and to develop specifications for procuring the pilot system. The key objective for the study was: to prove applicability of the intelligent road studs, relating to road delineation and safety in adverse driving conditions. The report also contains information regarding additional and related objectives that were identified; a site refinement review; specifications of the works required; and an off-road demonstration/Department for Transport and stakeholder meeting.
