Compliance Checking and Localisation Augmentation New ISO and CEN Standards
The standardization organizations ISO and CEN have jointly prepared two new Dedicated short range communication (DSRC) application standards that support Electronic Fee Collection with autonomous systems. The two standards focus on achieving interoperability among tolling systems, and address the needs of checking user compliance to the tolling rules and of augmenting satellite localization in specific situations. Compliance Checking as specified in CEN ISO/TS 12813 is in essence a read-only application, where the road-side reads compliance data from a passing on-board unit. Localization Augmentation, CEN ISO/TS 13141 in contrast, sends location coordinates and tolling object identification data in a write-only, broadcast-type fashion from road-side to vehicle.
