Implementation of intelligent transportation systems based paratransit services in China

The purpose of this paper is to discuss application of ITS technologies to paratransit services in China. In particular, based upon basic technologies of ITS, this paper (a) explains the history and current situation of paratransit services and the significance of introduction of ITS to paratransit services, (b) studies the implementation of ITS technologies to paratransit services, taking the social and economic situation of China into consideration and (c) discusses the important roles of the central and local governments in the process.
