How Online Vendors Select Parcel Delivery Carriers
In this study, the authors examine the criteria that online vendors use for selecting parcel delivery carriers. The selection attributes are identified using the logistical transportation literature and then grouped according to their influence on online vendors. The study identified seven distinct factors that online vendors consider important when selecting carriers. The two most important were: "on-time, tracking, and quick response" and "fare rate and freight loss". The authors continue their analysis by examining what bearing the factors have on the development and maintenance of mutually beneficial partnerships.
