Raising Speeds on JR East's Shinkansen Routes
This article describes the testing of the Fastech 360 trains, part of JR East's Shinkansen network. A target of 360 km/h has been set as a maximum operational speed for these trains. Four major themes have been focused upon for these trains: higher running speeds, safety and reliability, eco-friendliness, and comfort. The article describes some of the technical advances that have been made to ensure better sound insulation and quieter trains, such as reducing micropressure waves in tunnels.
