Subtitle: What kind of a role can IT play for airlines in a crisis? The 2009 Airline Business/SITA Airline IT Trends Survey shows the extent to which IT budgets are under pressure and how airlines are prioritising projects offering near-term returns. In the longer-term airlines sees [sic] mobile phones as a key technology for check-in innovation. Early returns : over half the respondents in the 2009 Airline IT Trends survey say IT spend [sic] is down this year as airlines' bid to tackle the economic crisis, while investment is being prioritised on projects making a difference in the short term. -- Getting mobile : the envisaged rapid growth of mobile and web services looks set to overshadow kiosks as a check-in channel, though there remains plenty of life left in kiosks' [sic] as they develop in future as a self-service channel.
