It's Simple: Click It or Ticket
This article discusses the success of the Click It or Ticket program in reducing crash injuries and deaths. Begun in 1993 in North Carolina as a public private partnership to raise restraint use, the program combines enforcement with media messages and is in effect in all states with belt laws. The article looks at the program's target audience, enforcement efforts, and provides a variety of statistics, such as the percent of belt use by states and belt law. Included are two sidebar articles discussing the efficacy of enhanced seat belt reminders, enforcement programs, and the adoption of primary belt laws.
