ABRASIVE BLASTING GUIDE FOR AGED OR COATED STEEL SURFACES
This is a guide for use as a practical field manual for the evaluation of surface preparation achieved by abrasive blasting. A series of full color photographs depict aged and coated medium and high tensile steels used in the marine environment, and illustrates in progressive steps the appearence of the new or aged steel surface which will result when abrasively blasted to the various grades ( ranging from original condition to white metal ). The grades represented are clearly defined, and also included for reference are the definitions of surface cleanliness of the Steel Structures Painting Council and the National Association of Corrosion Engineers. This guide was prepared by Panel 0-23 ( Ships Paints ) of the Ship Technical Operations Committee.
