Alcohol and Drug Use Among Drivers: British Columbia Roadside Survey 2008 // Alcool et drogues chez les conducteurs: une enquête routière menée en Columbie-Britannique

A random survey of drivers was conducted at pre-selected locations in British Columbia from Wednesday to Saturday nights in June 2008. The purpose was to collect information on the prevalence of alcohol and drug use among nighttime drivers. Those surveyed were asked to provide a voluntary breath sample to measure their alcohol use and an oral fluid sample to be tested subsequently for the presence of drugs. Une enquête routière aléatoire a été réalisée dans des endroits prédéterminés de la Colombie-Britannique en juin 2008, du mercredi au samedi, en vue de recueillir de ’information sur la prévalence de la consommation d’alcool et de drogues chez les personnes qui roulent la nuit. Nous avons demandé aux conducteurs s’ils acceptaient de fournir un échantillon d’haleine pour mesurer leur taux d’alcoolémie et un échantillon de salive pour détecter la présence de drogues.
