Study on Application of the Socioeconomic Evaluation Technique to Traffic Barrier-Free Improvement/Development Projects
Since Japan currently has been one of the most aging societies in the world, urban environment to support the elderly and disabled people for independence and social participation has to be urgently established. For promoting the improvement and development of the barrier-free facilities such as public transportation facilities, it is considered that socioeconomic effectiveness and efficiency will become more important in the era when the public investment capacity has been reducing accompanied by the progressing aging society. In this study, the authors applied the socioeconomic evaluation technique to the traffic barrier-free evaluation to examine its effectiveness and application to the government policies.
