DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS AND THE RESISTANCE OF LARGE TOWED SEAGOING BARGES
Recommendations for design parameters of seagoing barges and useful data for predicting resistance of these craft are given. This report is the result of an analysis of over 250 data sets of speed and resistance obtained from approximately 40 model tests on representative seagoing barge forms conducted by the University of Michigan over the past several years. The analysis was sponsored by the SNAME T&R Panel H-2 ( Resistance and Propulsion ) of the Hydrodynamics Committee.
