Protecting American Health from Global Shipping Pollution: Establishing an Emission Control Area in U.S. Waters
An emission control area is an area that has stricter pollution limits than other areas. The United States can apply to the International Maritime Organization for an emission control area. This would protect millions of residents in the United States from emissions from ocean ships, and increase the health and well being of those residents. People living in port cities would especially benefit from these stricter emission control standards.
