Data for traffic safety research in Flanders.
Data voor de verkeersveiligheidsonderzoek in Vlaanderen : steunpuntnota.
A great need for available data exists for thorough research. In this note we provide an overview of data that are or should be available for traffic safety research. Therefore the different kinds of data are grouped according nine themes: infrastructure, attitude and behaviour, vehicle technology, mobility and travel behaviour, accident statistics, secondary accident data, enforcement, time series and finally costs and valuations. For each of these themes four aspects are considered: wanted data, available data, quality and comprehensiveness of these data and finally missing data.clude that quite some data exists in Belgium and more specifically in the Flanders Region. The quality and availability are however often quite mediocre. To meet this shortcomings we formulate some recommendations to the involved authorities.
