PPPs Empower Infrabel Investment
The article examines how public-private partnerships (PPPs) are being used in Belgium through the pioneering efforts of infrastructure manager Infrabel. Introduced relatively recently, using PPPs to finance major Belgian infrastructure projects is allowing provision of services such as much needed extra railroad network capacity. The author provides an overview of projects, including airport service in Brussels and port links in Antwerp. An insert lists freight infrastructure projects slated for Antwerp between 2008-20.
