The report discusses the problem of defining icebreaking performance and model tests used to measure performance. The influence of the ice variables on performance are discussed in some detail and set the stage for discussions of the influence of auxiliary icebreaking devices on performance. A summary of principle conclusions and recommendations ends the report. (Author)
