CAR DRIVING AS A CYBERNETICAL TASK
HET AUTORIJDEN ALS CYDERNETISCHE TAAK
Human behaviour in dynamic situations can be described and predicted by control engineering methods; i.e. the research area of cybernetics. This report evaluates the possibilities of cybernetics in analysing driver's behaviour quantitatively. The cybernetical models of driving are grouped with respect to the number of input signals (as related to driver's search) and to the implementation of future information of signals (as related to driver's prediction). Models are described for lateral control as well as longitudinal control (car-following). /TRRL/
