SHIP VERSUS TUG-BARGE--A NAVAL ARCHITECT'S VIEW

An overview of tug-barge economics is compared with conventional vessels in the same type trade. The advantages and disadvantages of each mode are enumerated to assist architects that find themselves in the position of tug-barge analyst that must evaluate the trade-off between conventional vessels, rigid and non-rigid tug-barge systems.
