European Railfreight Can Learn Lessons From North America
The views of the United States' Railroad Development Corporation Chairman Henry Posner III in regard to Europe's redefinition of its rail freight industry structure are presented. Posner has witnessed the massive change in both North American and European rail freight in the last three decades from both sides of the Atlantic. He believes that the European rail freight sector should study the mechanics of how its North American counterparts do business closely. At hand is competition: in North America, it is primarily intramodal, in Europe, it is intermodal.
