ACSA at the Forefront of Airport Operational Efficiency
Airports Company South Africa's (ACSA's) mission is to use airport operational excellence to facilitate a world class customer service experience. ACSA uses foresight, operational management tool adoption, airport infrastructure upgrading and expansion, and other tools to put South Africa's nine airports at the forefront of airport operational efficiency. ACSA's Airport Management Centre (AMC) project, modeled after those of some of the world's most proficient airports, is being piloted at Africa's largest airport, O.R. Tambo International Airport. It focuses on deriving operational excellence through cross-community vision in the core areas of enhanced customer service, aircraft movements, and baggage handling. In South Africa, the O.R. Tambo AMC is scheduled to open at the end of May 2009, followed by the Cape Town airport AMC in September 2009, and the La Mercy airport AMC when the airport opens in 2010.
