Top Safety Pick 2009: 72 Winners for 2009
This article reports on the 2009 top safety picks for vehicles as determined by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. 72 vehicles earned the award, which is more than double the number of recipients in 2008. The award is based on how well the vehicles provide occupants with front, side and rear crashworthiness. The vehicles must also be equipped with electronic stability control (ESC).
