DISCOMFORT GLARE: DURATION-INTENSITY RELATIONSHIP
The purpose of the experiment described was to determine the relationship between comfort and discomfort for glare (BCD) and the duration of exposure to the glare source. The research results show a general conformity to an expected duration-intensity for noxious stimuli. A local maximum indicates the difficulty of judgment of BCD that observers had for brief durations. An increase in BCD for longer durations apparently was due to light adaptation. The data and two different types of regression analyses all refute the possibility of correspondence between these results for discomfort glare and for other visual phenomena, such as Bloch's law, since the declining duration-intensity relationship continued far beyond the expected duration.
