SPARE PARTS ADMINISTRATION
Efficient shipping operations require rapid access to spare parts and accessories for ships at all times. This article describes a systematic method of meeting this need. Data-Ship A/S of Oslo has developed a spare parts system which has been implemented in a number of shipping companies. The system aims to simplify and improve administration in this area by providing better monitoring of component and part stocks, by giving a more effective and rationalised routine for ordering, making specifications and instruction material more readily accessible, and by simplifying stores administration and reducing the stockpile. This system can also be adopted as part of the TSAR system, where a company's registering system for maintenance planning is also used. Order from BSRA as 49,680.
