Reflective Cracking Study: First-Level Report on HVS Testing on Section 589RF - 45 mm MB4-G Overlay

This report is the second in a series of first-level analysis reports describing the results of Heavy Vehicle Simulator (HVS) testing on a full-scale experiment designed to validate California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) overlay strategies for rehabilitating cracked asphalt concrete. The report presents results of the second HVS reflective cracking testing section, designated as 589RF, which was carried out on a 45-mm half-thickness MB4-G overlay. The objective of this project is to develop improved rehabilitation designs for reflective cracking for California by evaluating the reflective cracking performance of asphalt binder mixes used in overlays for rehabilitating cracked asphalt concrete pavements.
