Composites Pick Up New Applications in Light Trucks
In the United States, lower sales, higher material and component costs, and insufficient supply of the vehicles consumers now want have left North American automakers with a glut of light trucks in vehicle showrooms. With this in mind, this article looks at a sampling of recent, innovative potential uses for composites and plastics in light-duty trucks to reduce costs associated with more expensive steel manufacture and to make these vehicles lighter and more fuel efficient.
