Changing Municipal Policy in Support of Infrastructure Asset Management
This paper describes how the City of Edmonton’s strategic approach to infrastructure asset management has led to its international recognition as one of North America’s most progressive municipalities. Engaging both City Council and key public stakeholders has enabled the City to better manage its infrastructure assets and minimize its “infrastructure gap” – the disparity between funds needed and funds available to complete necessary capital projects over a ten-year period.
