DOUBLE-BOTTOM IN 210,000 TON D.W. MOBIL TANKER
The Mobil Pegasus has a double-bottom extending over the length of the cargo space. Cargo lines and remote control equipment for the cargo valves are located in a duct keel on the longitudinal centerline. The double-bottom will be used for water ballast-thereby eliminating the need for normal hold ballasting arrangements - and the tank tops in the inner bottom are sloped to permit easy draining of the holds. Advantages are faster cargo discharge, more easily cleaned cargo holds, reduction in the risk of oil pollution, and easier inspection and maintenance.
