Analytical modelling and experimental verification of tyre non-uniformity

This paper presents the development of a non-uniform tyre model for system identification to fit experimental High-Speed Uniformity (HSU) measurements, which ultimately results in the determination of the tangential and radial hub forces. The analytical model includes the mass imbalance, stiffness non-uniformity, and radial run-out in addition to hysteretic energy dissipation and a longitudinal slip model. The system identification, based on a genetic algorithm, uses the experimental tangential and radial first harmonic wheel hub force variations as the target outputs. The results demonstrate that non-uniformities produce wheel hub forces at multiple combination frequencies of the first harmonic frequency. (A)
