THE EFFECT OF WHEEL DIAMETER ON TREAD TEMPERATURE IN GRADE OPERATION
It has long been thought that as wheel diameters decreased, tread temperatures increased during similar grade braking conditions. The author gives data to prove this is true and to show how much. Curves are also presented to allow prediction of temperatures for wheel sizes not tested.
