Safety Effects of Access Design Decisions
Over the past half of a century, a number of researchers have examined and reported on the safety of design and of operational features that play a part in managing access along roadways. Since many access management techniques reduce or eliminate some conflicting traffic movements, one would anticipate that they would have some affect on crash rates. This paper reviews a number of these research documents, and draws conclusions about the trends found among the findings they report.
