Infrastructure Maintenance

The subject addressed in this collection of 13 papers is infrastructure maintenance. The papers in Part 1–Management and Personnel discuss relating cost to condition in highway maintenance, a sampling procedure for road maintenance evaluations, and shaping the future of the workforce for intelligent transportation systems. The papers in Part 2–Structures examine bridge inspection in Europe; bridge deck assessment by ground-penetrating radar, chain drag, and ground truth; electrical injection of corrosion inhibitor for reinforced concrete; and cathodic protection systems on Virginia bridges. Part 3–Pavements contains papers on the effects of aggregate and emulsion application rates on asphalt surface treatments, the safety effect of preventive maintenance, the long-term performance of reflective cracking mitigation techniques, and the effect of bituminous material rheology on adhesion. Part 4–Roadside and Equipment presents papers on analyzing compost for erosion control and fleet transport for roadway maintenance equipment.
