MEMBRANE PENETRATION AND ITS EFFECT ON PORE PRESSURE
The discussers present the results of undrained simulation tests, taking into account both a penetration similar to that described by the authors in the original paper and a zero penetration, by ultiziation of an incremental law of sand. It is noted that in an undrained test on sand, the pore-water pressure in the sample is homogeneous (bear in mind the high permeability). The local irregularies in density play an important role in the pore pressure response: a local dilatancy of the sample may create a serious reduction in pore pressure, which explains why the effective stress paths turn to the right when the surface limit is approached.
