DRIVER EDUCATION FOR STRESS CONDITIONS
A set of driver performance training activities has been developed to prepare drivers to handle a vehicle under such stress conditions as tire failure, skid situations, off-road recovery when one or more wheels drop off pavement, and to properly steer vehicle, to evade sudden impending dangers, and to brake the vehicle without losing control. As this paper points out, when these activities are learned and practiced, improvements occure in a driver's ability to operate a vehicle and to respond to stress conditions with a high degree of success. In addition, reductions in accidents and property damage have also taken place. /Author/
