SAFETY ENGINEERING MEASURES IN THE OPERATION OF ROAD FINISHERS, ROAD ROLLERS AND SOIL COMPACTING EQUIPMENT

SICHERHEITSTECHNISCHE MASSNAHMEN BEIM BETRIEB VON STRASSENFERTIGERN, STRASSENWALZEN UND BODENVERDICHTERN

Legal regulations, such as the so-called machine protection law, accident prevention specifications and regulations and safety rules lay down that safety engineering requirements must be taken into account in the use and operation of construction plant, those particularly discussed being finishers, rollers and soil compaction equipment for highway construction. On the basis of typical accident causes, the safety engineering factors for the three named types of plant are explained. From the point of view of safety technology, it is essential that management and operating personnel at the actual construction site should be concerned not only with the proper condition of the equipment but also with that of the haulage equipment, with the maintenance and repair work and that the safety engineering aspects should receive maximum attention. /TRRL/
