PASSENGER CAR NOISE -- DIESEL AND GASOLINE
A study of noise radiation from European passenger cars was made during 1977. Two cars were studied in detail over their operating ranges and an additional ten typical cars were briefly tested. Measurements of both the externally radiated noise and the interior noise levels were made in some detail for the main subject vehicles, and the techniques and results are briefly outlined in the paper. The effects of using different types of legislation procedure on the measured noise levels of the vehicles are also discussed.
