Lufthansa's Private Business
Lufthansa is successfully catering to the elite traveler, according to this article, by developing an array of services, such as its dedicated First Class Terminal at Frankfurt and its all-business-class service from Frankfurt to Newark. Its biggest venture is its Lufthansa Private Jet product that enables well-heeled customers to hire a corporate jet with just one phone call. The author describes the airline’s experience with the two-year-old product, which provides a variety of aircraft with seating from four passengers to 12. The so-called “discreet” nature of the business does not allow the company to provide operational statistics—such as how many passengers have used LPJ or how many flights it expects to operate, but the airline says its aircraft fly up to ten times a day. Besides flights within Europe, there is demand from Russia, as well as from the U.S. and New Zealand.
