The economics of Heathrow expansion - final report
Air transport is an integral part of present-day society. Demand for flights is ever-rising, stretching airports to the limit. Nonetheless expansion of runway capacity is often highly controversial. In order to assess thepros and cons of expanding runway capacity at Heathrow airport in particular, the UK Government has launched a public consultation. This final report consists of an introduction, then sections including: Direct, indirect and wider benefits of aviation; Quantitative assessments of the overall economic impact of airport development; Specific impacts and issues; Methodological issues; Conclusions on economic benefits; Demand management; Hub airports and regulators; and finally, References and an Annex on statistical analysis.
