Scotland's transport future - guidance on regional transport strategies
Regional transport partnerships were established in Scotland in December 2005. Each regional transport strategy will focus on the travel needs of people and businesses in their region. Integrating transport planning with land use policy and development planning should facilitate economic growth. This guidance is intended to: explain and expand the statutory requirements for a strategy laid down by the Transport (Scotland) Act 2005; providedirection for the form and content of strategies; provide outline timetables for the completion of a strategy; explain the links with the Scottish Transport Appraisal Guidance and the Strategic Environmental Assessment; outline linkages with the land-use planning system, National Transport Strategy and other policy objectives; and outline requirements for implementation and evaluation.
