Polyphosphoric acid modified binders
This report provides a general overview of polyphosphoric acid modified binder. A modification mechanism between the acid and binder was proposed. The addition of acid was found to change the chemical compositions of the binder noticeably. The strength and weaknesses of this modified binder were also demonstrated in the report. The most outstanding advantage is the improvement in temperature susceptibility. The main concern about this modified binder is the unknown side reactions happening between an anti stripping agent and the acid in the binder. (a)
