Maintaining and managing Woollahra's street trees
Woollahra Municipality in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney is well known for its leafy character. Significant concentrations of historic and cultural plantings exist that are remnants from historic estates, older subdivisions, and commemorative plantings. There are over 60,000 trees in public parks and streets. Woollahra Council has proactive and reactive tree maintenance teams that provide both scheduled maintenance and a response to customer requests to keep our trees in a safe and healthy condition. This paper outlines how Woollahra is analysing and rationalising its public tree collections and moving from a reactive to a mainly proactive tree maintenance program.
