Barriers towards intermodality for pursuing to-work commuters modal shift to bus rapid transit system in Jakarta, Indonesia
This paper aims to discover the barriers to intermodality that will be encountered by Jakarta's transport authority. It begins with an intermodality performance evaluation of TransJakarta's system based on a framework synthesized from a review on the influence of intermodality on commute mode choice in general. This is then further narrowed into the Jakarta Metropolitan Area's commute mode choice characteristics and the measures that have been adopted by other countries in order to enhance intermodality. The current state of intermodality of each component is discussed and is followed by discussion based on on-spot observations, related secondary studies, and the results of in-depth interviews.
