TERMINAL SURFACE BEHAVIOUR
The author explains the importance of the terminal surface and considers impacts on terminal surfaces from wheel loads, static loads, pollution and changes in use. The formulation of terms of reference for the design of pavement are discussed with a list of important aspects. Surface design is examined with regard to subsoil, pavement types and design methods. Some examples of terminal surface are described, mainly: bituminous surfaces, concrete slabs, concrete blocks and granular surfaces. Maintenance and reconstruction are also mentioned.
