Challenges and Opportunities in Transportation: a Interview with Dan Dornan and Ed Regan
This paper features an interview with two noted transportation industry consultants, Dan Dornan of AECOM Consult and Ed Regan of Wilbur Smith Associates, regarding the challenges facing the highway system in the United States and their visions for the future. Dornan believes the most significant challenge facing the United States transportation system is financing, while Regan describes the challenge as "institutional inertia." The consultants also comment on the heightened interest in toll road concessions, rebuilding the interstate highway system, and the need to connect road investments with performance measurements.
