Toronto, a National Model, Links Housing and Transportation with Subways and Light-Rail System
This chapter discusses the ways in which cities in the United States and Canada are solving their difficulties with urban sprawl, commuting and a significant imbalance in housing and jobs. Central business districts are being revitalized; and mixed use development and transit oriented development are becoming prevalent. Urban renewal is occurring, coupled with an emphasis on walkable communities. Subways and light rail transit are helping to mitigate traffic.
