Orlando Uses Free Rapid Transit System to Reduce Downtown Traffic

Orlando, Florida has a free bus rapid transit system in its central business district. Raised medians and/or raised reflective pavement markers are used to separate the dedicated bus lanes from the rest of the traffic. At intersections all bus movements are controlled by special signals. Buses are given priority by the use of traffic signal preemption. In addition, bus shelters have up to date arrival information.
