HARS: THE NEXT GENERATION TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
In the Dutch Province of Noord-Holland an innovative traffic management system is under development. The goal of the system is coordination of all available traffic measures in the region. For this system two approaches are intermingled to get the best performance. Top-down a control strategy is developed together with the local authorities. Bottom-up an autonomous system is developed which distributes traffic over the network taking regional policies into account. The system combines the two approaches in which the autonomous system is combined with the specific operational control schemes. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653.
