A permeable future
This article highlights the use of concrete block permeable paving (CBPP) as a part of mainstream drainage technology. CBPP is an important technique within sustainable drainage systems (SUDS) which is now a planning requirement on developments of all types as an aid to reduce flood risks. CBPPs and SUDS are also used to improve water quality, aid absorption at source and to store water for non drinking purposes. A diagram and pictures are used for exemplar purposes and concludes that SUDS offers a number of cost and maintenance benefits, as well as an effective sustainable water resource management system.
