DIGITAL COMPUTER PROGRAM FOR APPROXIMATE STRESS-CONCENTRATION ANALYSIS FOR NOZZLE IN A SPHERICAL PRESSURE VESSEL
A computer program is presented which gives the total stress concentration factor caused by a nozzle in a pressurized spherical vessel. The solution on which the program is based is obtained by an approximate method in which only bulk equilibrium and deformation requirements are maintained. The results are compared with available test data. The solution to this problem was obtained by N.C. Lind, Professor of Civil Engineering, University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. The computer program is written for a General Electric 605 Time Sharing Computer. A complete listing of the program, including full documentation, is presented. In addition, a typical computer run is included.
